Consultation
Patients meet with Dr. Schertell or Dr. Moore to review their health history, set goals, understand the VLC diet, and learn how to make HCG injections. Bloodwork may be ordered to rule out any conditions that could make the diet unsafe, such as high blood pressure.
HCG Injections
HCG injections are self-administered under the skin daily. Patients can also receive these injections in our office if they wish. The HCG signals the body to tap into stored fat for energy while preserving muscle mass.
Diet Planning
Medical weight management requires personalized nutrition guidance from a licensed professional. Our skilled doctors design customized VLC diets (500 calories per day) based on the patient’s health goals, food preferences, lifestyle, and schedule. Although restricted, our nutrition plans are healthy and balanced, which is a key factor in losing weight.
Stabilization
After 3-6 weeks on the VLC diet and HCG, patients stop taking injections and slowly increase calorie intake over 3 weeks. This allows the body and metabolism to stabilize at the new lower weight. Lifestyle changes are introduced to maintain the results in the long term.
